A GHOST WITH ME- By Aniqa Quasim XI-B

Once there was a couple who lived 6 months very happily. Wife used to keep the house neat and clean before her husband comes. The husband was very happy with this. One day the husband thought to visit his house early without informing the wife. He entered the house quietly without making noise, opened the door and went in. He went to the kitchen and slowly peeped in. He was taken back to see his wife doing unusual things like touching the flame with bare hands, catching the hot vessel without wearing gloves. Then the weirdest of all was when she wanted a spoon or vessel from the last rack; she just stood still and her hand lengthened till the last the last rack, took the spoon or the vessel and came to the normal position!! By seeing this he was sacred and slowly stepped backwards. As he was very near to the door he dropped a vase which was kept above the shoe-rack. Hearing the noise his wife was in front of him in a blink of eye. He was scared and said “don’t come closer to me. Stay where are you! Keep distance. First tell me who you are?” she answered “I am your wife” he said “no, you are not! I saw you doing strange things that no human can do” she answered “yes I am your wife and I am a ghost”.

The house- By Zahra XI B

One day four friends decided to go to the abandoned house near the graveyard at midnight. They headed towards the house, when they reached there they felt a chill in the air and uncanny atmosphere. They entered the house they found out that the house was really cold and old; even the wooden carvings were covered by cobwebs. The darkness flooded all over the house. One of the friends strained his eyes peering into the gloom and saw an unusual figure and then it disappeared she just ignored it thinking that it was just her imagination and then they heard a wicked laughter and felt the footstep coming towards them. Everyone was frightened and stepped back. Then they saw a flash of light followed by a headless woman floating in the air and chasing them. They screamed at the top of their lungs and ran out of the house.

“Ghost 178” By Fahmidha- XI A

I am late, it is already half past eleven, and I have to hurry for my friends would be waiting for me. Today, midnight is going to be a great time and the power of attorney is going to announce us something that they call ‘surprise’. I am not so patient and I terribly want to know. The advantage of being an apparition, no one actually cares about how you look or how you dress up – it’s all in the skill of making a raid on the people. I have received two enormously bright medals in the “ENLIVEN TALENT ACADEMY”, which is quite unusual and have been requested to be necessarily present today. I reached the grotto at the correct time and I took my place near the walls of grotto. It was as chilly and cold like the day before, above was a tiny hole in which the full moon is clearly visible. “The surprise we’ve been talking about, the mansion at the end of the pitch narrow street, has been occupied by new residents”, declared the officials. A mansion, with residents- An ideal place to unveil my talent! “Our Enliven superstar – Ghost 178 would be in charge of the case.” I started doubting my own senses, for no young ghost has been in charge of any case before, at least until my knowledge.

She opened the door of her bedroom silently. She was going towards her bed with a book in her hand. She laid on her bed and started reading. She knew she was not able to sleep at night. She was reading a ghost story. Until…..she heard some noise, a tap on the window pane, was that the branches or the fingernails against the window? She wanted to investigate but was so lazy to get off the bed. Then she started reading again and ignored what happened .But the horrid noise was disturbing her and not allowing her to read. She took her earphones and then started reading. She was so delighted that the noise wasn’t disturbing her and she peacefully completed book. She took her earphones off and as she was about to keep her book down…..she screamed as if death came. She saw a ghost who had no face and fire balls on his eyes. She closed her eyes that instant and went under the blanket and didn’t move….and they say, “there is no such thing as ghost”

What can you ask a CEO? By Dilsha Dinesh 11A

I felt my palms sweating as I entered the UAE exchange head office. Sure I’m around 12 of my friends and I would be lying to myself if I said that I wasn’t a tad nervous. It’s not every day a regular 15-year old gets to meet the CEO of UAE exchange. The preparations I had taken by seeing YouTube videos seems to be of no use in real life experience that I’m about to face.

As I entered his office, I noticed the simplicity of the office. Of course there was a table full of golden trophies shouting their presence in the room but it was a classic office with few modern art paintings and few portraits of meetings with famous people.

We introduced ourselves. He shook hands with each one of us. He had a sense of leadership with which one could have guts and talk freely and was really cheerful with us throughout the conversation. With a subtle sense of authority he asked his employee to give us a visit to the treasury. I felt like a lost lamb. What is treasury doing in an exchange? Well, actually it was the place where dealers ensure the deals and watch the rates of the currency (go figure).

As I entered the treasury, I saw a long conference table filled with computers. The employees started explaining what they actually do over here. It must’ve been in Greek because nor did I understand or remember a single word. My brain was filled with doubts. I saw a group of my friends conversing with an employee and I just stood there. Another one of my friends just came and asked “did you understand anything? “. So I just did a little happy dance inside my head thinking I was not the only lost lamb and in fact there was a herd.

After the quick visit to the treasury we made our way to the cafeteria where we were welcomed and seated in front of the one and only Mr.Sudhir Shetty. One could notice the age lines but he seemed like he didn’t care about them and gave us all a warm carefree smile. He started off by reminding us how lucky we are to be here and to be given such opportunities. The idea of 13 teenagers interviewing a CEO seemed really intriguing.  And it was. Each and every one of us held on to the words said by this personality as if it were pearls.

It was 3 hours long and trust me when I say that it was not at all boring. Well, if I were to ask to repeat whatever he said, even if it were the exact same words it would never have the same effect. He asked us to follow our dreams, whatever they may be, and to face the difficulties with confidence and determination that you can do it. He quoted famous personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Ratan Tata, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Jawaharlal Nehru and many more. He asked to read their books and see how a Chai-wala can be a prime minister. He encouraged us to make our own decisions and stick to it. At one point he made us write down almost 10 quotes of famous personalities. He asked us to follow the virtues and traditions of India and to be always proud to be called an Indian. He said that all countries will have its ups and downs but what remains is its patriotism. He ended his informal speech by asking us to stick with simplicity and humility.

Now it was us youngsters’ turn to ask him some questions. The questions that I had prepared, he had already answered them in his talk. One could tell that this was not his first interview but it was my first. So I had to open my mouth to ask a question which just popped in my head: “How many hours of sleep do you get?” Although I meant it in a serious tone, it earned a lot of chuckles from our group. He answered with the smile which had never faded since we’ve entered: “To achieve something we have to sacrifice something too”.
